The Institute for the Investigation of Communist Crimes and the Memory of the Romanian Exile (IICCMER)

will launch its most recent journals

“Repression and Social Control in Communist Romania” (in Romanian, 2011, Published by Polirom Publishing House)

and the two issues of “History of Communism in Europe” (in English, Published by Zeta Books): Issue 1: “Politics of Memory in Post-communist Europe” (2010) and Issue 2: “Avatars of Intellectuals under Communism” (2011)

at Georgetown University ’s Center for Eurasian, Russian, and Eastern European Studies

in collaboration with the Center for the Study of Post-Communist Societies at the University of Maryland ( College Park ) and with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York .

Speakers include Professors Vladimir Tismaneanu, Michael David-Fox, Adrian Cioflanca, Dennis Deletant, Marius Stan and Bogdan Iacob.

Free admission.
